MOSES LAKE — Students at Knolls Vista Elementary will return to a safer playground this summer, thanks to a new security fence completed with the help of Moses Lake Home Depot and a team of local volunteers.

The fence, which now surrounds the school’s playground and adjacent areas, is designed to keep students safe from roaming animals and unwanted visitors, while also preventing young children from wandering toward the nearby city park during recess. School officials say the project will give families greater peace of mind.

“We could not have made this project possible without the Moses Lake Home Depot team donating ALL of the materials to build this fence from the ground up,” said Knolls Vista Principal Adam Sawyer. “Thank you all for making this project a priority and bringing more safety to our Knolls Vista Elementary students and stakeholders.”

The project was a collaborative effort, with volunteers from Knolls Vista Elementary staff, the school’s Parent Teacher Organization, Group14 Technologies, Cortez Fencing, and community members pitching in to help with installation.

District officials say the new fence is one of several ongoing efforts to improve campus safety and create a welcoming environment for students, staff, families, and visitors.
